We reviewed the 18 cases of malignant germ cell tumors diagnosed during the period of 12 years from january 1981 to December 1992 at the Department of Obstet & Gynecology, Kosin Medical Center.
@ES The results were obstatined as follows:
@EN 1. The histologic diagnoses were 8 immature teratoma, 5 dysgerminoma, 1 endodermal sinus tumor, 1 choriocarcinoma, 1 embryonal carcinoma and 2 mixed germ cell tumors.
2. The median age was 21 years(range, 8 to 43).
3. The most common symptom was abdominal pain(44.4%), and the rest were asymptomatic palpable mass (38.9%), abdominal distension(11.1%), abnormal vaginal bleeding (5.6%) in order.
4. Stage distribution was as follows: stage I: 13 patients, stage II; 3 patients, stage III: 22 patients.
5. Sixteen out of the eighteen patients received postoperative chemotherapy with VAC, VBP or EMA-CO regimens.
6. With a median follow-up of 50 months (range; 1 to 118), 12 patients(67%) are alive with or without evidence of disease.
